Petter Arnesen is an Azure MVP and platform engineer with over 20 years in IT, focused on making infrastructure less painful for developers.

He works with Azure, Kubernetes, and Crossplane to build platforms that enable self-service without sacrificing control. He’s particularly interested in bridging the gap between platform teams and developers.

Petter runs the YouTube channel “PetterTech”, where he shares practical cloud content with a relaxed, hands-on approach. When he’s not working with cloud, he’s usually busy as a Dungeon Master for D&D, building worlds that are sometimes easier to understand than cloud architectures.

Provisioning infrastructure shouldn’t require every developer to become an expert in Terraform, Bicep, or cloud-specific tooling.

In this talk, I’ll show how Crossplane lets you treat infrastructure like any other Kubernetes resource—making it significantly more accessible for developers while still enforcing platform-level guardrails.

We’ll start with a quick introduction to what Crossplane is and how it works, before diving into real-world usage based on a year of platform engineering experience. You’ll see live demos of provisioning both individual resources (like a virtual network in Azure) and complete landing zones through simple, developer-friendly APIs.

The focus is on Azure, but the patterns and concepts apply equally to AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments.

This session is for developers and platform engineers who want to simplify infrastructure provisioning, reduce cognitive load for developers, and move towards a more self-service, platform-driven model.
Along the way, we’ll also explore lessons learned, trade-offs, and where Crossplane fits—and doesn’t fit—in a modern platform engineering setup.

Developers and platform engineers working with Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure who want to simplify provisioning through self-service platforms. Basic familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud concepts is beneficial, but no prior Crossplane experience is required.
